Bath Fringe New Works Works

Witcheroo had another exciting outing, this time as part of the Bath Fringe's Pop Up Street Theatre Festival on Saturday 10 October. Fun in the Oven had been recipients of their Arts Council funded New Work Works programme helping  artists to develop new acts for the street. Alongside Coddywomple, The Bath Fringe was another performance opportunity in which mentors Gwen Hales, Paschale Straiton and Amy Rose supported artists to deliver their (covid-safe) performances to new audiences.

The gang's back together playing on the streets of Easton!

Fun in the Oven's co-Artistic Directors Robyn and Katie are working together again...this time in Bristol. We are delighted to present ‘Witcheroo’, is a playful, interactive new street theatre act combining clowning, ritual, cycling & magic!
Two witches, working in the gig economy, will be delivering spells, charms and hexes through 'Witcheroo; Spell Delivery Service' to the streets of Easton. You can choose from a menu of Big Spells that can provide healing, enlightenment, inspiration or protection to a whole street, or bite-sized Small Spells for individuals looking for Money, Luck or Love.

'Witcheroo' was presented as part of The Bristol Coddywomple, a celebration of street performance, bringing entertainment to Bristol neighbourhoods. On Sunday 26th July 2020 performers of many types stepped out of their front doors, following pre-mapped routes, to entertain their neighbours as they pass through.

We WON the Audience Award at the Prague Fringe!

Following a fantastic run at the Prague Fringe Festival, playing to a warm and receptive audience we WON the Fringe Audience Award for 'Canary'. Audiences were encouraged to vote for their favourite show on the Fringe website throughout the festival. The company were shocked but delighted and humbled by the award which confirms about the universality of the show and its themes as well as the importance of sharing these women's stories.

Three Women. One War. And a Ton of TNT.
Meet Agnes, Anne and Betty; a motley crew of munitions workers doing their bit for the war effort. An air raid strikes sending them on an explosive journey through euphoric emancipation, forbidden friendship and anarchic dreams.
A thrillingly dark physical comedy based on the real life stories of Britain's unsung war heroes; The Canary Girls.

Our National Tour in November 2018 was a complete success, selling out in four venues. And audiences loved the work!
***** “Fun in the Oven takes hold our emotions, making us laugh, cry and in awe of their slick physically and strong ensemble. The most hard-hitting moments were always cleverly uplifted with comedy, and superbly executed.” Theatre Box Review
“an original take on a little-known aspect of wartime women’s intrinsic importance, and the humorous dialogue, well-choreographed movement and rousing singing make for enjoyable and enlightening entertainment.”  Spy in the Stalls
"'Canary' sheds light on some munitions workers, many of whom have been overlooked or deliberately airburshed. This is a show that pulls no punches yet is witty, warm and topical. How Fun in the Oven inject humour into such a dark topic is a revelation." Audience Member at Interplay

“A rarely seen perspective of a world defining time” Audience member at The Witham
“They clearly take inspiration from 1927, Kill The Beast and Les Enfants Terribles, but in their mixing of gruesome comedy,
movement and a real social message, their work is very promising”
